Adam hames
Axe Racing Role: Brakeman
Background
As is often the case in bobsleigh, Adam has also had success in another sport, Karate. He was BUCS national champion in his first year at Bath university then repeated, winning Bath’s first ever back-to-back titles. Adam has been learning Karate since he was a child and continuing his theme of doing things at a young age became a blackbelt at just 11. He continues to teach and practice karate in his time away from pushing things down a hill.
Were he not in the sport of bobsleigh Adam said “I would definitely be looking to pursue some mixed martial arts and maybe become a professional fighter in the UFC or something”.
Adam hames Bobsleigh
Adam has made a splash in international bobsleigh in the last year. Though he has been in the sport since the age of 16, competing as a youth pilot, he has dedicated himself as a pusher since he turned 18 and in the 2018/2019 season this hard work was rewarded with his World Cup debut. As the youngest member of the Great Britain team and the youngest Brit ever to compete in the World Cup, Adam has had to fight hard to make a name for himself and not be seen as the “kid” of the team. But he has accomplished this comprehensively proving himself to be a formidable athlete both on the push track in bath, and on ice.
